First, I want to thank everyone for all of the birthday wishes. It was last Friday while were in Pocono. I went to dinner with my family, and that was it. I had to be up pretty early for Cup practice the next morning. On Saturday, I practiced my BRANDT Chevy and debriefed with my crew chief Steve Addington. I watched a little bit of the ARCA race at Pocono. Congratulations to Kyle Larson and my team owner Harry Scott Jr. on the win. Kyle’s Nationwide Series crew worked on the car for him and they are the same guys who crewed my car last year. I watched part of the Supercross race on TV and then went for a bike ride at Pocono. The track let us actually ride on the track, which was pretty cool. There’s not many tracks that allow us out there.
I was able to lead a few laps during the race yesterday, which felt good. I really enjoyed that view from the car. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the finish to show for it with the way the cautions fell. We also ended up with a broken quarter panel brace and that didn’t help matters. The last restart was crazy as you may have seen on TV. Pocono is a wide track and we were three and four wide there at the end.
This week I’m headed to Springfield, Ill. on Wednesday evening. I’ll be throwing out the first pitch at the Springfield Sliders baseball game. I guess I should get a few practice throws in this week if I don’t want to embarrass myself. I won’t have much time there but it’s always nice to get home. I know a lot of my family and friends are coming to the game. On Thursday afternoon I head to Michigan to get ready for the race there this weekend. On Saturday night I’m going to Plymouth, Ind. to race my dirt car, so if any of you are there, be sure to say hello.
Busy week ahead for me and I’ll catch up to you all next week. Thanks for all of the support.
